Ambulance Donation Ceremony

Official Statement

Madam President; Mr. Vice President; Mr. President Pro-Tempore of the Senate; Honorable Members of Government; Minister of Health and Administration of the JFK Medical Center, Ladies and Gentlemen.

Approximately seven months ago, the Mike Mueller Charities ("MMC") was officially launched in Liberian with a promise to join hands with the government in the noble mission of national reconstruction.

Ambulance Keys

A collaborative effort in conjunction with the Coalition of Concerned Liberians USA ("CCL") and the European Federation of Liberian Associations ("ELFA") representing Liberians in the Diaspora thus began, with focus on the prime areas of education, health care delivery and women's empowerment.

With all the true convictions of national pride, and devotion to the crying voices of our common patrimony, we decided to become partners. This collective endeavor by Liberians and friends in the Diaspora was borne out of the reality that the task of rebuilding cannot rest upon government alone. We realize that, government will remain the enabling vehicle, but the driver in this journey is indeed the collective will of Liberians at home and abroad, ready and available to contribute to the reconstruction of our battered nation.

Hence, we conducted a tour of various educational and health care centers in Liberia, most notably the JFK Medical Center. Our visit here last April brought into perspective the frustrating realities of our health care dilemma which calls for urgent attention. In consultation with our board and partners, a pledge was made to help address the many needs of this facility with a specific promise to contribute an emergency vehicle or ambulance.

With much gratitude to God almighty for the means provided, I am pleased in my capacity as Chairman of MMC, to present to you this day, a Emergency Response Unit for the use of this medical center and the good people of Liberia.

Mr. Minister, Madam Director, and staff, I commend you on your continuing sacrifice in the field of saving lives. We trust that this gift given to you this day, will be utilized with great stewardship. We assure you that with efficient management, this gesture today will signal only the beginning of much more to come.

We are further pleased to announce that since our launch in April, renovation. work has been completed at the Monrovia Demonstration School, even as we prepare to embrace the Center for Women Empowerment ("CEWE") this week in another venture by Diaspora Liberians to help' rebuild the lives of women in Liberia.

We further commend the President, Vice President and leaders of the legislature for the significant support, cooperation and encouragement rendered to the initiatives of Liberians abroad in this collaborative endeavor, as we assure you of our continued commitment to the goals of reconstruction and poverty reduction.
